Courses

Please use the 'contact me here' box to the right for more information about any of these courses.

Improve your English (speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar)

This course is ideal for anyone new to English, or seeking to improve their English in order to become more employable. Customise the course to your prefered number of sessions.

Basic computer skills (word processing, internet safety, using spreadsheets, simple programming and simple design)

Learning your way around a computer can really enhance your CV as so many jobs require basic computer skills. Customise the course to your prefered number of sessions.

Beginner French (conversation, pronounciation and vocabulary, basic grammar)

Planning a holiday to a French-speaking country? Why not brush up on your speaking skills? Customise the course to your prefered number of sessions.

Beginner flute (leading to Grade 1 exam, you must provide your own flute)

This is for absolute beginners looking to learn the basics and pass Grade 1. I will source the music required by the syllabus and enter you for the exam.

Beginner sewing (simple embroidery techniques, using a sewing machine)

Walk away from a single session with your own beautiful bunting or cushion cover!

Dress making (create your own item of clothing from scratch!)

Choose your own pattern from a selection (men's, women's and children's clothing patterns avaliable) and pick your fabric. Then watch as you transform it into a unique piece of clothing to keep! Course length depends on your skill level and the difficulty of the pattern chosen.

Beginner painting (choose from watercolour, gouache or acrylics)

Create artwork to hang in your home after just one or two sessions, or explore your hidden talents further with a longer course developing your own sketchbook of techniques and ideas.

Children's Book Recommendation

How to Train Your Dragon (Cressida Cowell)

This book is so much fun. The illustractions are fab and the story will have children giggling all the way through - mainly because of silly words like poo. Hiccup (the unlikely hero) is the typical outcast - he's just different to everyone else. But still he shines through and overcomes his obstacles with (some) help from his dragon.

Another first-in-a-series book that might just encourage reluctant readers to carry on with more from Cressida Cowell.

The story is quite different to the popular film, although I think the film is also fantastic and worth a watch.

Latest Painting Project

Honeymoon Boats, acrylic on canvas

On our honeymoon in Wales three years ago we took a photo from the beach of these beautiful sailing boats. I just got around to painting them (finally).
